Current Conditions and Seasonal Tactics with Captain Dexter McCaslin
Lake Norman - Iredell, NC
The bite on Lake Norman is currently strong as we move through the spring season. Water temperatures are stabilizing, pushing schools of Hybrid Bass into their typical transition zones. We are finding the most success using a combination of trolling and bottom fishing around secondary points and submerged structures. The Hybrids are active and hitting hard, providing a great experience for both veteran anglers and those on a beginner fishing charter.
Crappie are also heavily concentrated around brush piles in 15 to 25 feet of water. Utilizing light tackle and jigs has been the most productive method for filling the cooler. For those targeting Catfish, the night bite is starting to pick up near the deeper creek channels, which is a great sign for our seasonal night charters running through October.
Whether you are looking for a half day fishing charter on Lake Norman or a full-day excursion, the variety of active species makes now an ideal time to get on the water. The weather has been cooperating, allowing for consistent trips out of Denver, NC. If you want to see what makes these Lake Norman guided fishing trips a local favorite, grab your gear and let’s head out.
