Do I Need a License for My Charter?

The requirements for a fishing license depend entirely on where we are fishing:

• Lake Norman, Lake Hickory, & Lake Rhodhiss (Inland Waters): All anglers aged 16 and older are required to possess a valid North Carolina Inland Fishing License. This applies to both residents and non-residents.
• NC Nearshore Ocean Charters (Coastal Waters): When fishing with Slice O Life on our saltwater ocean charters, you do not need to purchase an individual license. Our vessel's commercial blanket license covers all passengers on board for the duration of the trip.

License Types and 2026 Pricing

For our freshwater trips in Denver, NC and the surrounding lakes, you can choose between short-term or annual options.

10-Day Inland Fishing: $11.00 (Resident) | $28.00 (Non-Resident)

Annual Inland Fishing: $30.00 (Resident) | $54.00 (Non-Resident)

Unified (Inland & Coastal): $49.00 (Resident) | N/A (Non-Resident)

Exemptions and Special Categories

• Youth: Children under the age of 16 are exempt from fishing license requirements in both inland and coastal waters in North Carolina.
• Seniors: North Carolina residents aged 70 or older are eligible for a Lifetime Inland Fishing License for a one-time fee of $19.00.
• Military & Disabled Veterans: Discounted lifetime and annual licenses are available for active-duty military stationed in NC and disabled veterans.
